March 7, 2008
8 AM - 6 PM

The need for concerted global action to address our climate change crisis is the most urgent challenge of our times. Sustainable solutions to meet the world’s growing energy requirements demand vision, innovation, and leadership to define the appropriate policies, develop new technologies and to implement these in an ever-changing and ever-demanding market. These issues are highly interdisciplinary, spanning science, technology, policy, law, and business. At the forefront of this activity is the University of California, Berkeley, and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, both of whom are committed to a position of global energy research leadership across multiple disciplines.

We are pleased to announce the 2008 UC Berkeley Energy Symposium: Leadership at the Nexus of Science, Policy & Business. The 2008 symposium brings together leaders in energy from both the public and private sectors to discuss the innovative science, technology, and requisite public policies that will shape the future of energy in the United States and across the globe.

The 2008 Symposium features speakers and panels on the following topics:

  • Bioenergy Research at Berkeley
  • Advances in Green Building & Green Development
  • Carbon Capture & Sequestration: A Viable Alternative?
  • The Future of Nuclear Power in the US
  • Can Fossils Evolve? Alternative Energy from an Oil and Gas Perspective
