The Innovation in Services Conference April 26-28, 2007 Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley Berkeley, CA Services have become increasingly globalized with the emergence of new economies, notably India and to a lesser extent, China. They have become leading offshore locations for undertaking software development and all types of IT-enabled business services. Meanwhile, US and Western European countries must consider how to promote the growth of high wage jobs in service businesses in the face of this more global environment. What are the key facilitators and barriers in globalization (i.e cross-border tradability) of services? What other factors, besides digitization of information and declining data transmission costs, matter? Why are services less tradable than products, and why are certain types of services more tradable than others? These and other provocative topics will be addressed in this conference on Innovations in Services. Executives, senior managers and specialists who are responsible for strategic innovation, academic researchers interested in services topics, and students interested in services as a field of study or prospective career will find this conference to be of particular interest.
